Successful Weight Management Program

By Daniels Charles So, finally, you have equipped yourself with the latest multi gym, treadmill, twister and static cycle. You have purchased a new exercise outfit and of course, a weighing machine. Your diet chart is ready. And you are about to plunge into a series of activities to maintain that tricky weight of yours. You have even thought of opting for diet pills like Phentermine for quick weight loss. Opting for diet pills like Phentermine is not a bad idea but before that try out something natural if that does not work then finally Phentermine will definitely relieve your weight related agony. Though there are countless gadgets and programs for managing your weight, all of them may not be suitable for you. You may work out for months together with no result in view. So, it is better to follow the following guidelines in order to have a successful weight management program. Know you bodyage, height, weight, hormones, genetic history of diseases and obesity, allergies, etc. Know the more vulnerable areas where you are more prone to accumulate fat. Waist, hips, back, thighs, abdomen, chest—identify the area that is not in proportion. Consult your doctor or experts on what your ideal weight should be in ratio to your height and age. Check your work routine. Do you sit for long hours in front of the computer, or bend over the files, or do you move around on your two- wheeler on the market all day. Each of these activities and many more would mean that you exert one part of you body more than the rest. Accordingly, an exercise that would relax and rejuvenate that faculty and strengthen the rest of the body would be more effective than simply following somebody elses routine. For example, a sales executive will need some exercise for his legs and lots of relaxation for his back. So he will need to take a walk for half an hour and a few simple yoga exercises for his back. Eat light and fresh food. Supplement it with lots of nutritious fluids. Pure aqua is the best bet. Breathe in lots of fresh air. Be regular and be positive. Be patient. Do not expect miracles overnight. Be persistent. Get quality sleep. And you could realize your dream of a fit and healthy body. How To Get Rid Of A Cold Sore

By Flora Wells How to get rid of a cold sore. There are not many remedies out there and what information there is you have to pay for it. Fact: Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus. There are two types of this virus and cold sores is type one which is called HSV-1. Fact: Many people who suffer from the virus are aware in advance that a cold sore will break out – they have a tingling or burning feeling, redness, itching or pain. Fact: Cold sore outbreaks can be influenced by menstruation, sunlight, sunburn, fever or local skin trauma. Fact: People can transfer the virus from cold sores to other parts of the body such as the eye, skin or fingers. The question is can we stop them? There is no cure for the cold sore but there are many ways to prevent them from reoccurring. Here are some helpful ways you can implement into your lifestyle. 1. Use a lip moisturizer to prevent your lips from becoming dry or chapped. 2. Use asprin for your cold sore to help with the pain 3. Remember to eat a healthy diet and avoid salty or acidic foods. Foods such as potato chips and citrus fruits can further irritate cold sores. 4. Apply an over the counter anesthetic which can also mask the pain. 5. Use a sunscreen on your lips to prevent sunlight and sunburn inducing further cold sores 6. Try relaxation therapy to relieve yourself during stressful times not including burning some oils and listening to meditative music 7. Thoroughly wash your hands as you interact throughout the day 8. Memory Loss Linked to Overweight

By Gabe Mirkin, M.D. How could excess weight cause memory loss? Full fat cells produce proteins called cytokines that turn on your immunity to cause inflammation that damages tissue throughout your body, including your brain. Researchers at Toulouse University Hospital in France tested people first in 1996 and again five years later. During that period, overweight people lost far more of their ability to recall words than their thinner counterparts. (Neurology, October 2006). Your immunity is supposed to protect you from infections. When a germ gets into your body, your immunity produces white blood cells and proteins called antibodies that attach to and kill germs. As soon as the germ is gone, your immunity is supposed to stop making antibodies and white blood cells. In some people the immunity remains active and attacks a persons own body to cause heart attacks, strokes, certain cancers, and even diabetes. This recent study shows that it may even attack your nerves and brain. Being overweight can cost you IQ points, and the most effective way to prevent obesity is to exercise regularly. How much do you need to exercise to lose weight? In one recent study, researchers asked people to walk and count an extra 2000 steps each day (Journal of Human Nutrition & Dietetics, August 2006). This is really a minimal amount of exercise. They also kept complete food diaries. They lost weight and did not increase their food intake. When you start an exercise program, your appetite may increase, but this will not increase your caloric intake to equal the extra calories that you burn. For example, if you burn 600 calories with added exercise, you may take in 200 calories extra and you will lose weight. Exercise helps you lose weight by raising your metabolism so you burn more calories for several hours after you finish exercising. However, only vigorous exercise that increases body temperature and makes you sweat will increase your metabolism enough to continue burning more calories after you finish. Overweight is a major cause of premature death and increases risk for heart attacks, strokes, cancers and arthritis. If you are out of shape and want to lose weight, get a stress cardiogram and ask your doctor to clear you for an exercise program. Start slowly and then gradually increase the intensity of your exercise over several months. Barbecues

By Jonathon Hardcastle Theres nothing like a good weekend barbecue with family and friends in your own backyard to wash away the stresses of a hard week at work and rejuvenate you for the coming week ahead. It would be great to have a barbecue every weekend, wouldnt it? But as I realized only lately, there are so many other things to consider if you want to aspire for the barbecue. Its not a simple as putting meat on the grill and letting it roast, as I used to think. First of all, you have to consider your choice of wood because different types of wood give the meat a distinct kind of flavor. The choice of wood is also important considering that some kinds of wood burn faster than most. You may want to consider combining wood and charcoal for better smoke control and a consistent fire. When it comes to charcoal, using a commercial bag of processed charcoal briquettes is good enough, but for best results you should use lump charcoal instead. Whats the difference? For one thing, lump charcoal has not been ground and shaped as opposed to charcoal briquettes. In addition, lump charcoal is the purer type of charcoal and, obviously, it is the charcoal of choice by barbecue purists who scoff at the use of processed charcoal. Using a chimney starter matters as well especially if you want to make sure that the heat stays at a consistent level all throughout your cooking. Others also use an electric iron to heat the coals. The lazy ones are prone to soaking charcoal in lighter fluid but though this technique may be quick and easy, it gives the meat an unnatural chemical taste. Once the coals are covered in ash, usually after 15-25 minutes, you can either barbecue the meat directly (by piling the coals together in the center beneath the meat) or indirectly (by spreading the coals around the grills perimeter and placing the meat in the grills center). For maximum convenience, gas grills are the way to go because they are easy to light and easy to control. But purists have a bone to pick with this technique as well, claiming that cooking with gas grills lessens the flavor of the meat compared to cooking with wood and charcoal. Amphibious Remote Control Toys

By Nikoli Funston The remote control industry has evolved as a whole, but amphibious remote control toys have advanced in leaps and bounds. There is a lot more being offered than the old plastic boats you use to see. There have been several real vehicles that have been designed to run on both land and water. Most of these vehicles have had military functions such as the amphibious tank. There have been some experimental amphibious combination automobiles and boats, but none have enjoyed much commercial success. Where the real vehicles fall short, however, the remote control world has stepped right in to produce amphibious remote control toys. The military style vehicles such as tanks and amphibious personnel carriers have been reproduced in remote control scale models. Military reproductions are a popular classification of remote control vehicles. Since many are amphibious, this has carried over to the remote control reproductions. The combination auto and boat has also emerged as a remote control favorite. The operator can drive it right into a lake or pond and with a push of a button, the wheels retract and it becomes a power boat. What never could be completely mastered in real is possible in the Remote control Hobby. Another variation on this theme is the amphibious airplane. In this case, the seaplane has been in use almost since the beginning of aviation. The remote control models are equipped with skis in the same manner as real seaplanes and take off and land on bodies of water. Although these types of remote control toys are not as common as the land/water amphibious models, they do exist or can be built. They represent an additional challenge to the remote control flyer, but do have an advantage in that water makes a softer landing field. The damage in a crash might be reduced assuming the craft can be successfully recovered. One of the most unique of the amphibious remote control toys is the stunt vehicle. A good example is the remote control Stunt Chariot Amphibious Vehicle. This crazy example of the imagination possible in the remote control hobby is a stunt vehicle capable of doing wheelies, flips, and 360 degree donuts. With a click of a button, the wheels retract, and the Chariot turns into a powerful watercraft. It is designed so that it can deliver four cans of your favorite beverage to a friend on land or in the water. The amphibious remote control toy is yet example of how only the imagination has set limits on what can be done in the area of remote controlled vehicles. As the hobby has grown in recent years, just about any type of vehicle that really operates has been duplicated in a scaled down version for remote controlled play. Some vehicles that never quite made it or are totally impractical in full size have made their way into the hobby too. The Stunt Chariot is certainly one of these. How To Get A Loan With A Poor Credit Record

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Bill_Darken]Bill Darken Many people with a poor credit history or a low credit score tend to assume that they will not be able to obtain a loan. These people assume that they will not be able to obtain a loan for a car let alone a home. In point of fact, in the 21st century there are a significant number of loan options available to a person who has a poor credit history and a low credit score. If you are a person in such a position who desires to obtain a loan, there are some points and tips that you should bear in mind as you go about searching for a loan. By following these tips, you will improve your chances of obtaining a loan even if you do have a bad credit history and low overall credit score. 1. The first tip to keep in mind as you go about trying to find a loan (if you have a low credit score and a poor credit history) is to obtain a copy of your credit report from each of the three major credit reporting agencies. (Indeed, even if you have a solid credit history and a decent credit score, you should still consider obtaining a copy of your credit report from each of the three major agencies in advance of applying for a major loan.) The reason you need to obtain a copy of your credit report from each of the three major credit reporting agencies is based on the fact that research has demonstrated that a majority of credit reports on file contain errors, errors that adversely effect a persons credit history and credit or FICO score. As a result, by knowing what is on your credit report, you will be in a position to determine whether there is any incorrect information on your report. Upon identifying erroneous information on your credit report, you can take steps to get your report corrected. By correcting your report, you will be able to improve you credit history and your credit score, making it easier for you to obtain the loan that you need and desire. 2. The second tip that you need to consider when seeking a loan is to make certain that any of your revolving accounts are current. In considering whether or not you are worthy of a loan, a lender primarily will consider your credit history and credit report. However, a lender will also consider the status of your current revolving accounts (credit card accounts and the like). If these accounts are current and not past due, you will have a better chance of obtaining financing even if you do have a poor credit history. 3. The third tip that you need to keep in mind when considering obtaining a loan is the amount of income you anticipate earning in the immediate and not too distant future. Your lender will want to know exactly what you are earning presently and will want to try and accurately predict what your future earnings will be as well. The key to successfully dealing with a loan is to make certain that you have a reliable and sufficient stream of income to satisfy the terms and conditions of the loan 4. Finally, as you go about seeking a loan, even if you have poor credit and a lower credit score, make a list of those reliable lenders that offer loans to people with less than stellar credit histories. By identifying lenders that deal specifically with in providing loans to people with less than stellar credit histories, you will be well on your way to obtaining financing. After you have developed a list of potential lenders, you need to do some independent research on these different lenders. You naturally will want to make certain that you link up with a lender that is well established, reliable and reputable. (There are some less than ideal operators on the market today. By doing your own independent research, you will be able to ensure that you are working with a top notch lender.) In the end, by following the suggestions outlined in this article, you will be well on your way to obtaining the financing you need (whether it be for a car, a home or something else important to you) in very little time. Art of Cosmetic Nose Surgery – Rhinoplasty

By Harold Clavin Cosmetic Nose Surgery should be performed by a surgeon only with very talented aesthetic abilities and preferably a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon. In addition, the Rhinoplasty procedure should be performed with minimal surgical trauma to the nose, no external incisions, match and blend all facial features, look very natural and unoperated, cause minimal pain and discomfort to the patient, and be performed under the highest standards of safety. Cosmetic nose surgery can dramatically change the size, shape and appearance of a nose. The Surgeons objective is to create a natural-looking nose that fits with other facial features. He/She creates this nose by recontouring the nasal profile, reshaping the nasal tip, and changing the angle between the nose and the upper lip. Concurrently, breathing problems can also be corrected during this surgical procedure. The Rhinoplasty Surgeon is able to reshape your nose through small incisions made inside of your nose so that they will not be visible. Should any incisions need to be made outside the nose, the surgeon will make sure that they are well hidden and inconspicuous. After the Rhinoplasty procedure, patients are send home with or without packing of the nose. Dr. Clavin does not send patients home with packing of the nose, even when septal work is being done, however their are physicians that do use packing and that is their own personal choice. Dr. Clavin has found using his technique that packing is not helpful and patients are more comfortable post-operatively. The “new” approach to cosmetic nose surgery, that being an “open rhinoplasty” should only be reserved for very special cases of revision rhinoplasty, since it can cause extensive swelling and trauma to the nose. Dr. Clavin is a board certified plastic and recontructive surgeon practicing is Santa Monica, CA. Dr. Clavin’s background is wide and varied. He achieved remarkable recognition as a physician and surgeon at a very young age. He developed and patented the “Non Surgical Eyelift” as well as a complete line of Glycolic Acid and Vitamin C skin care products. He has appeared on National and Regional television many times. Prayer Studies Said to be a Waste of Money

By Dr. Bruce L. Flamm The six-hospital STEP project, the largest study ever conducted on distant intercessory prayer, has just confirmed that distant prayer has no beneficial effect on cardiac patients. The large multiple-hospital MANTRA II study published last year also showed that distant prayer had no beneficial effects. What are the implications? Is there no God? Is there a God who does not answer prayers? In my opinion, our conclusion should be a bit more mundane. Rather than wasting more time and money on similar studies, scientists should stick to science and theologians should focus on theology. For thousands of years, supposedly-answered prayers and healing miracles have been used as evidence for the existence of God or gods. Today, some individuals would like to demonstrate scientifically that distant prayer works in order to prove that their particular concept of God is correct. But there is a down side to playing such games: What if scientific studies continue to demonstrate that distant prayer does not work? From a scientific perspective, the concept of scientifically investigating alleged supernatural phenomena is paradoxical. Science is firmly based on the assumption of a natural, albeit highly complex universe. Science cannot comment on claimed supernatural realms precisely because, by definition, they are claimed to exist outside of the natural universe. If prayers could cause supernatural events to occur in the natural world, then no scientific study could ever be trusted. How could we ever know if a study’s results had been altered by distant prayers? Thinking about prayer Interestingly, the concept of investigating alleged supernatural phenomena is also absurd when viewed from a theological perspective. If you doubt this, ponder the following questions: Is intercessory prayer a contest in which the one with the most prayers wins? Is God so busy that he can only help people when enough prayers come in on their behalf? Do prayers from five people constitute a higher and more efficacious dose of prayer than those from two people? What if the two people have stronger faith than the five? Can God be tricked into participating in a prayer research study? Why can God heal functional defects but not structural defects? For example, prayer has seemingly helped countless people with allegedly paralyzed legs discard their wheelchairs but, strangely, prayer has never caused a single amputated leg to re-grow. Are prayers for healing directed to Allah or Yahweh as effective as prayers to Jesus or God the Father? Should such questions be investigated by randomized controlled trials? Discussions of faith healing and distant prayer belong in religious journals, not scientific journals. It is one thing to tell an audience at a religious revival that prayers yield miracle cures but quite another to make the same claim in a scientific journal. For some people, miracles, or perhaps symbolic miracles, are metaphors for God’s love. Science does not deal in metaphors. Science deals with events that can be tested, verified and replicated. In the entire history of modern science, no claim of any type of supernatural phenomena has ever been replicated under strictly controlled conditions. If intercessory prayers actually worked, one would expect the faithful to have vastly less disease and far greater life spans than nonbelievers. This is obviously not the case. In spite of persistent prayers by faithful friends and relatives, religious people die just as frequently and just as horribly as people who receive no intercessory prayers. Whats the harm of prayer? It is often claimed that intercessory prayers may not work but at least do no harm. However, reliance on faith healing can cause serious harm and even death. The consequences of avoiding medical care because of reliance on religious rituals and faith healing have been well documented. Another report in the journal Pediatrics in 1998 identified 158 children who died because of reliance on faith healing and religion-motivated medical neglect. The STEP publication concludes by stating that the research could not address a large number of religious questions, such as whether God exists, or whether God answers intercessory prayers. The former question is obviously beyond the scope of the research, but the latter seems to be the very point of doing this huge study. The intercessory prayers in this study were clearly directed to God. Why conduct a huge randomized multi-center study if you are not going to take the results seriously? As a very wise man once said, if you might not like the answer, don’t ask the question. Dr. Bruce L. Flamm is clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of California, Irvine. This article was written for Science & Theology News. The Oldest Concept in History

By Raymond Rheault I find it funny that one of the oldest concepts in the world has become one of modern societys biggest irritants. The problem with this is that the concept has been lost behind all the problems created by people who did not fully understand the concept to begin with. Religion is, by far, at the forefront of this list of problems. Government is close behind. So what is the concept weve lost? At the risk of sounding philosophical, Ill put it in one word. God. The concept of God is a simple one. Or at least, it was at one point. God is everything. Thats pretty much the long and short of it. At no point does religion enter into this, this is just a true and utter definition of the word god. Scientifically, it has been proven that all matter, even our own bodies, is made up of energy. All energy, broken down, is inevitably made of the same thing. Studies are currently being done to show that Energy broken down is, in fact, fluid and without separation. The Brookhaven National Laboratory has labelled this energy a quark-gluon plasma (for more information visit http://www.post-gazette.com/healthscience/19990614quarksoup1.asp). This simple fact is a clue into the realm of god. God is everything. No religion or faith involved. So where does this information lead us? Well, it gives us undeniable proof that all of reality is, without doubt, connected by something. The separation we see between us and anything else (chairs, people, animals, dirt, air, etc) is completely of our own making because that space is actually Connected by energy. This energy could be called Life, God or Reality, the label means nothing. The concept is true. All of life is connected. Understandably, this information seems a little pointless when faced with the toils and troubles of everyday life. People still feel separated from reality because they feel they have no control over reality. In fact, religion was based on this simple premise. Those people, so fearful of what might happen, turned to prayer and worship. The sad part about prayer and worship is that the people who feel the need to do these things often feel that, they themselves, are not good enough to understand gods will. They feel that they could never have control of their lives because they are flawed. Surely someone closer to God, someone better, could tell them what to do. You and I both know that there are plenty of people out there just aching to prove they can be better, especially if it means taking responsibility away from someone else for their own life. And so, religion was born. So, if not religion, then what? Well, religion is basically nothing more than a group of people so puffed up in their own self-righteousness that they feel they need a certain status in the world. They feel they need worshippers, a church, hymns and prayers, and maybe a little advertising. Why? Because they feel they can guide you through the world better than you can guide yourself. Not all of them are self-serving, though in that position of trust the temptation is surely there, but they are nonetheless taking your life away from you. You, as a person, are responsible for one thing. Yourself. The things you own, the people you love, and the beliefs you follow are just things youve picked up along the waythey can leave just as quickly. You are responsible for one thing. How you respond to everything. Ive went a little off topic here but I assure you there was a reason for it. Often, people will tell me that they have no faith in god because bad things happen all over the world. They have no faith in god because bad things have happened to them. They feel separated, as if there is no connection to anything around them and theyre afraid. So the question here is Who are you?. I dont mean your name, your status, or what you do. I dont want a description or even a short sonnet. I mean youwithout the physical, without sight, sound, or touch. How do you know that you exist? You know you exist because you are aware of yourself. You know you exist because you can say I am. So who are you, if not a name or label? Many people, throughout history, have asked this question. Unfortunately, they have been labelled philosophers for the most part, which usually puts them in a class we dont feel we can relate to. The sad part is that people ask this question everyday and always get slammed down by others saying Dont be so philosophical (or religious). There is nothing philosophical or religious about this question, its just a good question. So, back to the question of who you are. For the moment, well call yourself consciousness. Its a good term, and basically it means the awareness of yourself. That awareness, we humans pride ourselves on it, and we often think were the only species with it, but where does it come from? What is the spark that allows all living things to move around in and experience the world? Even science has shown that the human brain is almost like a giant sponge. Using electricity, different parts of the brain are stimulated to allow in more information. If youre a computer whiz, the term hard-drive might be more appropriate. The common belief is that as we interact with the world around us and learn different things, our brain forms to allow more information in and then comes up with an appropriate response. This is partly true, the brain does indeed receive information from the reality around it. In an article I read once, the Dalai Lama asked the question why does the brain have to create consciousness, can consciousness not run the brain? Obviously, we have no way to prove this, but it changes our entire concept of how the brain works. If consciousness is what drives the brain, then indeed all of our insights, intuitions, and instincts stem from that consciousness. Have you ever realized you knew something you had never actually thought about? Said something to someone else that, in fact, taught you something? Back to the original concept God as everything, consciousness exists within the reality around us. It exists within that immense quark-gluon plasma and is therefore part of it. Almost everyone has heard the saying God exists within us all. I know it sounds dogmatic and a little self-righteous but, taking away the religions context, what does that mean? Now, think about this, its a strange concept at first. The human body and all matter (including electricity) is made of a very base energy that connects everything. The human brain collects information and runs the human body with the aid of Electricity to stimulate the parts of the mind needed to record a lesson. Sight, touch, sound, and all the senses are nothing more than our physical bodies interacting with the energy around us moving at different vibrations. After looking at these points, we now know where consciousness stems from. It stems from the energy around us. Everything is made of this energy, not just physical things like furniture, but intangible things like thought as well. With that said, can it not be said that we, all matter (living or un-living), are indeed extensions of God Would we be able to say I Am if we were not connected to everything? No, because we would not exist. You see, the concept of God and Us is very simple. There are no religious requirements, there are no sins or hellworthy trespasses. There is simply you, and you are God. You are responsible for yourself, and that means how you affect everything else. You are a reflection of an infinite consciousness that wants to experience everything. This consciousness, God as we call it, is nothing more than the combined efforts of all of us. Gods will is reflected in how we respond to the reality were given. Gods will is reflected when we relax and live without fear, because all of this is ours.
